Trauma

The human lifespan comes with inescapable traumatic experiences. A sense of disconnect brought on by trauma can affect relationships, creating a feeling that an impenetrable barrier separates you from the world.

Are you:

  • feeling blocked and frozen in a specific moment of your life

  • feeling overwhelmed by a traumatic event or memories

  • re-experiencing a traumatic event, feeling triggered

  • having flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts and emotions

  • experiencing numbing thoughts, behaviors, and/or memories

  • feeling that you don’t deserve love

  • threatened by the positive experience of feelings such as love

  • struggling with boundaries in relationships, feeling disorganized or detached

  • struggling with memories related to medical issues, surgery, or pain

  • seeking help as a family member or in a relationship with trauma survivor

A traumatic event can be one-time, multiple, or repetitive. It can shatter your sense of security, causing overwhelming terror, and a loss of self. A person’s experience of trauma can vary based on their individual traumatic history, life experiences, family, and developmental history.

Time does not heal trauma. Childhood histories of abuse and neglect can be barriers in living an authentic life full of presence. You desperately want to be more present and connected in your relationships. You find yourself sabotaging yourself, unable to cope, looking to break free from old patterns of behavior.

I utilize multiple approaches from traditional talk-therapy to CBT, EMDR, somatic experiencing, and hypnosis. My mind/body therapy approach recognizes the neurobiology of trauma and self-regulation. Let me help you with your unique story to resolve the pain so that you can heal from the inside out.
