Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a special state of consciousness, a deep state of concentration, in which certain normal capabilities are intensified while others fade into the background. This state of relaxation allows an increased selective focus of attention, allowing individuals to strategically use imagery to focus on inner resources related to specific goals.
Hypnosis is a skillful use of attention that can utilize the unconscious mind for cognitive strategies needed for problem-solving and accessing inner-strengths. Ego-strengthening techniques can improve self-esteem, build confidence, and develop coping strategies related to self-regulation and a deeper state of relaxation. Depending on individual needs, clinical hypnosis is a tool combined with different types of psychotherapies.
